(NYSE: SRI), a leading supplier of safe, intelligent and efficient electronic technologies for commercial vehicles, buses, coaches and off-highway equipment, is debuting its highly advanced EVO ECU platform and demonstrating it aboard its Innovation Truck at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, Germany from September 14-20.

Commercial vehicles are becoming increasingly complex as more ADAS, camera-based, connectivity and software-driven functions are adopted. Stoneridge is responding with a centralized architecture designed to simplify vehicle electronics and support the next generation of technology. The EVO ECU platform provides a flexible, high-performance electronic control solution that helps OEMs reduce system complexity while enabling Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), diagnostics and future software-driven capabilities.

Stoneridge will demonstrate the EVO ECU alongside its industry-leading MirrorEye Camera Monitoring System and surrounding vision and control systems in its Innovation Truck and Simulator, illustrating how the technology works together in a real driving environment. Two new functionalities, MirrorEye Surveillance Mode and Surround View, will be demonstrated.

EVO ECU platform world debut
Unlike solutions built primarily for passenger vehicles and adapted afterward, EVO ECU was built specifically to close the gap in commercial vehicle architecture, with hardware and software designed together as a foundation. EVO consolidates processing capabilities into a centralized platform designed specifically for the unique requirements of commercial vehicles. This approach enables faster software updates, more efficient diagnostics and the ability to introduce new features without significant hardware changes.

For fleet operators, the advantages are significant: the EVO ECU helps improve uptime and reduce maintenance complexity through enhanced diagnostics, remote software updates and increased vehicle intelligence.

Software modularity and cybersecurity were key to the EVO ECU development. Through a collaboration with Renesas Electronics and others, Stoneridge implemented a scalable software architecture which allows new capabilities to be introduced while maintaining separation between safety-critical functions.

Built specifically for commercial vehicle applications, the EVO ECU platform has been engineered to withstand the most demanding operating environments, including extreme temperatures, vibration and continuous vehicle operation. Its rugged, automotive-grade design also makes it well suited for a wide range of vehicle applications, including buses, coaches and off-highway equipment. EVO ECU has undergone extensive real-world testing, on Stoneridge’s own test fleet and in customer fleet conditions.

The platform’s scalable architecture provides additional processing capability and connectivity to support emerging technologies, including advanced driver assistance systems, additional camera applications, sensor integration and future AI-enabled features.

Stoneridge launches new features and solutions
Enabled by the EVO ECU, new functionalities extend the value of the system beyond driving, further improving the safety and security of commercial vehicles.

Built on Stoneridge’s established surveillance technology expertise, MirrorEye Surveillance Mode gives drivers and fleets a layer of protection when the vehicle is parked. It activates an alert and automatically records a video clip the moment someone approaches or attempts access, delivering a clear view and actionable evidence.

Designed and engineered specifically for commercial vehicles, Surround View will offer a bird’s-eye view of the truck and trailer, making it easier and safer for drivers to maneuver in small spaces. These features and others are being demonstrated during IAA.

Stoneridge Innovation Truck
The Stoneridge Innovation Truck provides a showcase for advanced vision technology that can deliver greatly increased levels of safety for drivers, pedestrians and other road users as well as improved security. New and optimized screens and an integrated design also ensure the driving experience and access to critical information is significantly improved.

Working seamlessly together, these features have a common objective to provide a complete overview of truck and trailer surroundings without blind spots. This comprehensive, surroundings overview improves safety across the board as well as providing operators with truly accessible information that’s designed with the professional driver in mind.

In addition to the EVO ECU, the Innovation Truck features Stoneridge’s class-leading MirrorEye Vision System. More than 200,000 systems have been delivered globally since 2020, across six global OEM programs and two more launching in 2028. It features an Interactive Central Display with trailer health information and additional camera views, including the trailer interior and rear view. Also included are Trailer Connectivity, Object Detection and Forward Trailer Safe Path as well as a new Center High Mounted Display.
