RapidSOS Technology Enables 190 Dispatchers to Request Live Video from iPhone Users During Emergencies
NEW YORK, Aug. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — RapidSOS, the leading public safety AI company, today announced the availability of Apple Emergency SOS Live Video for emergency communications centers (ECCs) across Brazil through RapidSOS UNITE. The feature allows iPhone users to securely share live video at the request of 190 during an emergency, transforming situational awareness for public safety in both countries.
RapidSOS was the first platform to enable Apple Emergency SOS Live Video in the United States with the release of iOS 18 in September 2024. The expansion brings the same technology to Brazil emergency services.
Key features of the RapidSOS integration:
- Simple and Secure for Callers: During an emergency call, if the telecommunicator determines video would help, they can send a request to the caller’s device. The caller sees a prompt and can share their camera’s live video with a single tap. The feature is encrypted by default and the caller can stop sharing at any time.
- ECC-Controlled: Telecommunicators initiate every video request. ECCs decide if and when to activate the feature for their agency, and can control access by role.
- Integrated into RapidSOS UNITE: The feature is accessible from within RapidSOS UNITE at no additional cost to Brazil ECCs using UNITE core modules.
“When a caller says, ‘black male, blue hoodie,’ that’s half the school. But within minutes, she sends live pictures through RapidSOS — now I’ve got shoe brands, backpack logos, specific identifiers. That’s not just better data — that’s real-time intelligence,” said Patrick Lea, 911 Telecommunicator, Spartanburg.
“Apple Emergency SOS Live Video represents a fundamental shift in how emergency services can protect the communities they serve. RapidSOS was proud to be the first platform to enable this capability in the United States, and we are committed to bringing that same life-saving technology to emergency services around the world,” said Michael Martin, founder and CEO at RapidSOS. “Apple’s investment in public safety — and their trust in RapidSOS as the platform to deliver it — is a testament to what’s possible when technology is built in true partnership with the heroes who rely on it most.”
