Live Like Cash Gaudio Foundation Brings Gears for Gaudio Car Show to Forest Oct. 17

The drop-in event honors the life of Cash Gaudio, a 19-year-old who loved cars, and proceeds support the foundation’s scholarships for student-athletes.

Event details:

– Date and time: Saturday, Oct. 17, noon to 6 p.m.
– Location: Blue Ridge Community Church, 2361 New London Road, Forest, VA 24551
– Spectator admission: $10
– Vehicle registration: $15 through Oct. 10, then $20 online and at the gate; includes the driver’s admission

Cash Gaudio was shot and killed in his own driveway on Sept. 30, 2024. He was 19. His parents, Micah Gaudio and Shannon Meyers, established the Live Like Cash Gaudio Foundation in his memory to fund scholarships for student-athletes who embody Cash’s values: a heart for God and for their community.

The first Gears for Gaudio was held in March 2025 at Boonsboro Shopping Center in Lynchburg. According to organizers, hundreds of people came and went over the course of the afternoon, even after weather pushed the show back a week. The 2026 show moves to Blue Ridge Community Church to give cars and families more room.

“Last year, we honestly didn’t know who would show up,” said Savena Harris, chair of Gears for Gaudio. “Then the cars kept rolling in, and people kept coming all day. Classic cars, lifted trucks, kids up on their dad’s shoulders, strangers talking engines like they’d known each other for years. That’s who Cash was. He loved cars, but he loved people more. We moved to Blue Ridge because we needed the room. There’s space for everybody this year, so bring the car you’ve been working on and come celebrate him with us.”

Car owners can register a vehicle online by Oct. 10 to get the discounted rate, and pre-registered vehicles will be featured on the foundation’s website ahead of the show. Show cars of every kind are welcome, including classics, trucks, imports, hot rods and works in progress. Vehicle registration is open at https://livelikecash.org/events/gears-for-gaudio/car-registration.

The foundation is accepting applications from food trucks, vendors and musicians, and vendor space is free this year. Vendor applications are available at https://livelikecash.org/events/gears-for-gaudio/vendors. Volunteers are also needed for setup, parking, check-in and teardown, and service hours can be verified for students. Volunteer sign-up is available at https://livelikecash.org/events/gears-for-gaudio/volunteer.

“Cash could make you feel like the only person in the room. You knew you had his undivided attention,” said Shannon Meyers, Cash’s mother and president of the Live Like Cash Gaudio Foundation. “Last year I was so moved by the community support. We didn’t know what to expect, but hundreds came and lifted our family, celebrating Cash and one of his biggest loves, cars. This event is a celebration of Cash, his love for Jesus and others, and his passion for cars. Every family that comes out helps another young person who lives the way he did.”

Spectator tickets will also be sold at the gate. If weather forces a postponement, the new date will be posted on the foundation’s website and Facebook page.
